Arcadia University student Gabrielle Thomas ’22 discusses Gabby DiEmma’s interview for National Forensic Science Week.
Gabby DiEmma ’19, ’21MSFS is one of six forensic science professionals interviewed by the Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) as part of National Forensic Science Week. DiEmma shared her thoughts on the impact the pandemic has had on her studies, what inspired her to pursue forensic science, and advice she would give to up-and-coming forensic science students.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Forensic Science at Arcadia, DiEmma completed an internship at Rutgers University, where she documented human remains and artifacts from the Lagrange Place in Philadelphia as part of the Arch Street Project. DiEmma joined the RTI International’s Forensic Science Translation and Implementation program in mid-June of this year.
The Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE), led by RTI International, is supported through a Cooperative Agreement from the National Institute of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, and U.S. Department of Justice. Bridging the gap between the scientific and the justice communities, FTCoE supports the implementation of new forensic technology and best practices by end users and is dedicated to elevating the status of forensic science through advancing technology, sharing knowledge, and addressing challenges.
