3 Tips for Securing Post-Graduate Opportunities

Happy Spring, Knights! Many seniors are faced with a realistic question: What do I do after graduation? Here are 3 practical tips that might help you.

1. Find a Post-Graduate Job

Please remember that “it takes the average college graduate 3 to 6 months to secure employment after graduation.” Two career fairs are hosted in February that will help connect you with employers from various industries:

  1. Internship & Career Fair: College of Arts & Sciences, Education and Public Health (Feb. 20)(See employer list)
  2. Internship & Career Fair: School of Global Business (Feb. 21)(See employer list)

2. Apply to Graduate Schools

Please make sure that all application materials are submitted before the deadlines. Still working on your personal statement? Schedule a personal statement review with the OCE. Additionally, set up a mock interview or use Big Interview, an AI-based interview tool to prepare for your interviews. Arcadia students can register for Big Interview for free using your Arcadia email.

3. Consider Gap-Year Programs

Gap-year programs allow students to explore interests and gain experience after graduation. Organizations such as AmeriCorps and City Year offer programs based on students’ interests. Check out these events to learn about gap-year programs:

To begin securing post-graduate opportunities, you need a polished résumé that reflects your current role accomplishments. If you are interested in government jobs/internships, please follow the federal résumé guidelines on usajobs.gov. Also, try expanding your network on LinkedIn by connecting with your classmates, professors, supervisors, alumni, and professionals you meet at career events. If you’ve started the e3 Career Action Plan, please complete it soon so you can receive your professional development certificate and wear your e3 rope at graduation!

We are so proud of your achievements and we look forward to supporting you this semester and after your graduation! Please feel free to stop by the OCE at Knight Hall 100 or email careerhelp@arcadia.edu with any questions.
