Allentown Art Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented intern for our Collections Management Internship. This individual will help the Museum develop a record of the condition of works in the galleries, in support of the institution’s stewardship of and public access to its collection. This intern will also assist with the evaluation and assessment of works in storage for display in the reinstalled American galleries.
Interns will gain practical experience and skills in condition reporting at an art museum. They will also work with the Museum’s collection database throughout the project while gaining a greater understanding of collections management and the day-to-day- work of a registrar.

The Curatorial and Collections department is seeking an individual who is energetic, detail-oriented, observant, and passionate about the arts. The successful candidate must demonstrate computer skills, be skilled in measuring and other handwork, and have the ability to work independently and with a group. Additionally, background or coursework in art history, studio art, or a related field is preferred.
State and Federal Clearances as well as a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before the intern can begin working with the Allentown Art Museum.
The Allentown Art Museum is proud to offer a $2000 stipend to Interns accepted into the program upon the completion of 120 hours of work. Stipends are provided in three intervals during the semester. Other benefits include a complimentary Student Membership which gives access to discounts at several local shops and eateries, as well as a discount at the Museum Store.
