This posting is for a part-time student worker at the Landman Library circulation desk for Spring 2026 (1/12/2026 – 5/5/2026), with the possibility to continue permanently. Schedule is negotiable, but will be the same week to week.

Mon. – Thurs.: 8am — 10pm
Fri.: 8am — 6pm
Sat.: 10am — 4pm
Sun.: 12pm — 10pm
Job Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing the circulation desk during open hours, assisting students and faculty with accessing library services, and providing support for the library staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Check out library materials to patrons
- Check in returned library materials
- Organize and reshelve returned items in their proper locations
- Help patrons use the printers and computers
- Use library software to assist patrons in locating materials
- Greet patrons as they come into the library and answer any questions they have
- Perform weekly shelf checks to ensure library materials are in the correct locations
- Identify materials in need of repair or relabeling
- Complete walkarounds to discover any issues and to tidy up the building
- Perform opening and closing procedures, if scheduled
- Participate in ongoing training as assigned by the Library Assistant for Access Services
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Library Assistant for Access Services or other staff
Qualifications and Skills
- Dependability and clear communication
- Excellent customer service, both in person and over the phone
- Comfortable with technology, including computers and printers
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledgeable about the library and other campus buildings to direct patrons to various services
- Ability to give clear and meaningful instructions
- Capacity to remain calm when dealing with displeased patrons or emergency situations
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Knowledge of the Library of Congress shelving system preferred but not required

Pay: $10.00/hr
