Job Summary:
The Career Peer Mentor supports Arcadia University students throughout their undergraduate education by providing one-on-one peer professional assistance. CPMs are responsible for offering guidance on résumé and cover letter reviews, LinkedIn profile creation and enhancement, internship and job search strategies, and presentations to undergraduate student groups. The position involves actively promoting and representing the services and programs of The Office of Care Education (OCE) while contributing to the overall operations of the OCE.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain 4-8 office hours weekly, typically between 12-5 pm
- Provide 15-minute express advising sessions to Arcadia University undergraduate students.
- Advise students on crafting résumés and cover letters and providing edits and constructive feedback.
- Educate students on building and enhancing their LinkedIn profiles, including but not limited to capturing student LinkedIn profile photos.
- Assist students with career-related databases such as Handshake and the OCE’s Canvas Community featuring e3 (explore, engage, & embark).
- Promote the OCE’s programs, including ID 125 Design Your Career, e3, and the College2Career Scholarship program.
- Work one-on-one with students to foster a connection to the OCE.
- Present to undergraduate student groups about The OCE’s services.
- Attend some OCE programs and meet frequently with staff members.
- Assist in the OCE’s overall operations, including some reception and clerical duties as assigned.
Participate in all training sessions:
- To be considered for this position, you must commit to and attend 2-3 mandatory training sessions per semester.
- Participate in all training sessions, including practical exercises and discussions.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Arcadia University.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Attention to detail and skilled at using Microsoft Office and Google applications.
- Enthusiasm and creativity for the career planning process.
- Ability to commit to the CPN position for (1) the entire academic year.
