Position Summary:
A Student Assistant in the Registrar’s Office provides support to the office staff in the performance of the regular duties identified in each individual’s job description. This includes assisting any individual who enters the office and determining the appropriate action (e.g., message, question, referral, solution), scanning paper to image (moving images to digital student folders, identifying possible concerns, and eventually destroying the original paper), providing translation services from the student’s second language, testing SelfService and PowerCampus settings from a student’s perspective, and identifying and advocating from student perspectives regarding Registrar’s Office operations.
Student Assistants do not have direct access to the ERP (currently PowerCampus) but use records organized by PowerCampus that appear in the Sections table, Academic Calendar, SelfService, EMS, and database imaging system.
All functions must be performed with courtesy, tact, privacy, precision, and with feedback regarding improvements and/or pain points.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greeting office visitors in person
- Translating in each student’s second language when appropriate
- Providing student perspective regarding office operation and procedure
- Document scanning (scan, database, destroy)
- Providing assistance around campus as appropriate ( commencement, etc.)
- SelfService testing
- General office support
