Casa Carlini is seeking thoughtful, motivated students who want hands-on experience in the cultural nonprofit world—at the intersection of independent publishing, fundraising, and donor development.

Casa Carlini is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, which allows our publishing initiatives to operate as nonprofit, donor-supported endeavors. This internship offers a rare opportunity to see how fiscally sponsored cultural projects raise funds, build donor communities, and sustain ambitious, socially engaged books.

As an intern, you’ll help support fundraising efforts for Casa Carlini’s publishing projects, with a focus on donor research, outreach, and relationship-building. You’ll contribute to the early stages of developing a donor network that supports long-term publishing work—learning how development strategy, storytelling, and mission alignment come together in practice.

What you’ll be doing:

Researching prospective donors, foundations, and funding opportunities aligned with Casa Carlini’s mission

Assisting with donor outreach materials, campaigns, and communications

Helping organize and maintain donor databases and tracking systems

Supporting strategic conversations around fundraising and sustainability for nonprofit publishing

Gaining exposure to the broader editorial and publishing landscape at Casa Carlini

Who this is for:

Undergraduate or graduate students interested in publishing, nonprofit work, arts administration, journalism, or cultural organizations

Strong researchers and writers who are comfortable working independently

Students curious about fundraising, development, and donor stewardship as practical, transferable skills

People who care deeply about books, ideas, and cultural impact

What you’ll gain:

Practical experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor development

Insight into how fiscally sponsored arts and publishing projects operate

Mentorship and exposure to real-world development strategy

Substantive, resume-building work and professional references

This is an unpaid internship designed to be educational, meaningful, and flexible around academic schedules. The position is remote-friendly, with occasional opportunities for live collaboration depending on location.

To apply, send a brief note about yourself, your academic background, and why this kind of work interests you. A résumé and short writing sample are welcome but not required.

Casa Carlini is committed to supporting emerging voices—both on the page and behind the scenes.
