Job Summary
Provides technical assistance to physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, structural heart procedures, and other related procedures. Dedicated specifically to structural heart procedures. Responsible for direct care of patient during procedure as well as management of hemostasis post procedure. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned laboratory.

GMC has set the national standard for care coordination among hospital leadership, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart failure, advanced practice, nursing, life support, emergency medicine, emergency medical services (EMS), care management, pharmacy and cardiac rehab teams.

- Assists the physician with adult and pediatric cardiac catheterizations and structural heart procedures with a primary dedication to structural heart procedures.
- Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table.
- Independently preps valve devices and Sentinel Embolic protection devices without aid from the industry representative.
- Maintains inventory related to structural procedures.
- Renders assistance to the valve coordinator with respect to industry collaboration on device sizing, selection, and ordering.
- On non-structural days, assisting with other routine cardiac Cath lab procedures.
- Records, monitors, and assesses hemodynamic data collected during procedures.
- Responsible for primary and secondary hemostasis during and after procedure.
- Operates and ensures the quality control of hemodynamic recording devices, fluoroscopy and cine-angiographic x-ray equipment, oxygen consumption equipment, and blood analysis equipment.
- Performs emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures.
- Initiates life support techniques in the event of a cardiac and respiratory arrest including CPR, defibrillation, temporary pacemaker insertion and airway management.
- Assists with the training and orientation of students, trainees, techs, registered nurses, cardiology fellows, and cardiac catheterization technologists new to the department.

Applicants who hold an ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification.

- On Call is one night per week and one weekend every 4 week schedule

Education Graduate from Specialty Training Program- (Required), Associate’s Degree- (Preferred)
Experience Minimum of 3 years-Related work experience (Required)
Certification(s) and License(s)Certified Radiology Technologist – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) – Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body; Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months – American Heart Association (AHA)
