Participates in a variety of technical duties necessary to secure and process echocardiograms. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.

Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) is the country’s first hospital to receive The Joint Commission/American Heart Association (AHA) Comprehensive Heart Attack Center Certification.
GMC has set the national standard for care coordination among hospital leadership, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart failure, advanced practice, nursing, life support, emergency medicine, emergency medical services (EMS), care management, pharmacy and cardiac rehab teams.

- Performs and processes echocardiograms.
- Performs emergency echocardiograms, when necessary.
- Transports equipment to patient’s bedside, as required.
- Assists in Transesophageal echocardiogram support in the OR; Cardiac Cath Lab; outpatient, or inpatient setting.
- Participates in call coverage for nights and weekend.
- Enters patient data, utilizing the electronic medical record for documentation.
- Assists in technical instruction of echocardiography, as necessary, for nurses, residents, fellows, nursing students, etc.
- Maintains current knowledge of echocardiography technology.
- Reviews current articles and attends conferences as required by the supervisor.
- Travels to staff outreach sites and performs echos and EKG’s, as required.

Education Graduate from Specialty Training Program- (Required)
Experience Minimum of 2 years-Related work experience (Required)
Certification(s) and License(s)Certified ECG Technician – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); Certified Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer within 6 months of hire – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
