The senior copywriter is responsible for supporting the creative director in developing and producing strategic creative campaigns and marketing copy. The senior copywriter must exhibit strong writing skills in achieving the highest possible standards for all materials. They need a working knowledge of operations business challenges to help develop and translate marketing strategy into engaging creative. The role will collaborate with marketing management to help shape brand and market strategy when necessary.

Job Functions

  • Translate brand strategy and goals into effective positioning statements and engaging copy writing. Synthesize broad concepts into clear and effective content.*
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with creative and marketing to generate original ideas, develop concepts, and deliver creative solutions to marketing problems.*
  • Write original copy and edit content for a range of corporate marketing and external communication materials.*
  • Apply and maintain consistent content standards in order to ensure adherence to brand guidelines and consistency and harmony between copy style and visual style.*
  • Produce creative assets with accuracy and attention to detail while meeting the writing objectives of each campaign.*
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and designers from concept development to delivery of the final product.*
  • Interview stakeholders, participate in kick-off meetings, visit properties, and research consumer trends to fully understand the context, goals, and target audience of a campaign.*
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Industry Experience – Advertising/Marketing/Public Relations
  • Minimum 5 years professional copywriting experience with solid portfolio of work.
  • Exceptional writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Proofreading experience and familiarity with standard style guides a plus.
  • Proficient in creating marketing materials for use in the digital mediums; websites, social media sites and email.
  • Experience working with content management systems.
  • Must have a valid Drivers’ License
  • Bachelor’s degree – Advertising, Creative Writing, Marketing, Other, Journalism
  • Relevant work experience can be substituted for education – 5 years

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
  • Finger Dexterity Occasional (<33%)
  • Sitting Frequent (34-66%)
  • This job requires minimal visual requirements. Able to distinguish unlike items, detect motion, and distinguish color.
  • This job requires the visual ability to perform detailed work at close distances (computer screens, accounting ledgers, using measurement devices).
  • This job regularly requires verbal communication of detailed information to others either by phone or in person.
  • Must be able to speak and read the English language.
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (Repetitive motion).
