The Philanthropy Officer is a member of the leadership team of the LifeScape Foundation responsible for developing strong relationships with donors across South Dakota. Key responsibility areas include annual and major gift solicitation and donor stewardship of corporate and individual donors.
This individual should be knowledgeable of development strategies and skills pertinent to capital campaigns, personal solicitations, and donor retention. This position requires the ability to handle multiple deadlines and adaptability to accommodate changing situations and workloads. LifeScape is looking for someone with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong listening abilities.
LifeScape is seeking a passionate and experienced Philanthropy Officer to lead our efforts in securing financial support for our mission. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful fundraising, excellent relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of philanthropic practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Manages major gift program of the foundation for current use and endowment growth
- Develops, maintains, and stewards positive relationships that result in estate gifts and major gift support via personal contact, and other fundraising tactics
- Develops major gift portfolio including planned giving members and prospects
- Works in close collaboration with the Foundation President to establish solicitation priorities, manage prospect lists and research, develop, and execute targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies for all major gift prospects
- Manages the preparation and maintenance of personalized proposals and supports the foundation staff, LifeScape CEO and members of the Boards of Directors in their solicitation activities
- Coordinates with foundation staff integration of annual giving campaigns with long-range major gift goals
- Builds constituency and public support within the service area and beyond through appropriate professional organizations and service clubs through membership and presentations
- Works closely with the marketing team in the implementation of all campaign-related publications, print materials and online communications
- Serves as steward of major gift donors including regularly reporting on campaign progress, project updates, etc.
- Develops an integrated campaign model that supports multi-year campaigns that support the overall mission of the organization involving professional staff and volunteer leadership in the strategic development process to utilize their expertise and cultivate their support
- Develops and implements transition plan for post-capital campaign phase to support the ongoing major gift activity of the foundation
Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals (CFRE) or the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy preferred. At least five years leading and managing people in a fundraising environment and active capital campaign management and direct fundraising experience required.
