Intern – Machinist
Essential Role and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machinery using setup sheets and communicating with programmer
- Help manage inventory in coordination with the Stockroom and Purchasing teams.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment and common troubleshooting when a malfunction occurs
- Track and maintain raw material, fixture, and tooling log
- Design and implementation of fixturing equipment for both engineering and production purposes
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High School Graduate (Tech school machining program enrollment or degree preferred)
- Experience with manual vertical mill minimum (CNC vertical mill experience preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of G & M code (Fanuc based language preferred)
- Knowledge of 6S practice and machine shop safety
Additional Knowledge:
- Entry/Intermediate level CAM programing (GibbsCam or Fusion 360 preferred)
- Titans of CNC academy training
- Ability to design and create work holding fixtures/assemblies for use in a manufacturing environment
- Design for Manufacturability and End-use Assembly
- Experience/knowledge in complex setups for maximizing rigidity
Language Skills:
- Must have good oral and written communication skills
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, and possess a high degree of curiosity and desire to learn new things
- Ability to take initiative and multi-task within a fast-paced environment
Full-time schedules for Summer internships. (40 hour week) Approx. Start Date End of May/Beg of June.
Internship salary is based on academic year standing.
