Overview

For this entry-level position, we seek a person to assist in the production of print or electronic books. Initially, the Assistant Electronic Book Producer will learn how to develop electronic and print books. We will train you in all aspects of the work to be performed. Currently, we are working remotely. But the position will be full time in either our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or Fort Lauderdale, Florida, office (once we reopen). If you are excited by the process of book publishing, the position offers an excellent entry point and learning environment where you can develop your skills and advance to several positions, including Electronic Book Developer.

The ability to use computers efficiently and the desire to develop technical skills are essential for this position. The main qualification we are looking for is an aptitude for text-based technologies (text editing, markup languages, XML, HTML, simple scripting). A solid interest in book publishing is also necessary.

Initially, new employees learn the foundational elements of modern publishing: applying XML, e-book development, basic knowledge of the software commonly used in the industry, and the book publishing process. Then we will help cultivate your production skills so that you can fulfill one of the available production positions.

Compensation will increase as your skills advance and you gain greater responsibilities in Scribe.
