Overview

Scribe is seeking a Junior Developer to help advance our Well-Formed Document Workflow. Candidates must be well-organized and self-directed and have excellent computer and problem-solving skills. Applicants must be willing to learn specific frameworks and develop these skills if hired. Candidates should have an interest in learning the mechanics of files associated with the publishing industry and must be willing to learn the programming environments for interacting with each. While deep prior knowledge of these formats and languages is not a requirement, candidates must be willing to learn these if hired.

Duties

  • Implement bug fixes and develop new features for the tools in Scribe’s Well-Formed Document Workflow
  • Work in a testing-driven development environment to improve both customer-facing and internal technology and prevent future bugs
  • Work both independently and collaboratively, using Git version control to contribute to projects
  • Investigate bug reports and support requests, and communicate findings to users clearly
  • Dedicate a portion of the week to answering internal tech support issues
  • Contribute to big-picture ideas and be proactive about identifying solutions to problems
  • Manage file archiving

Qualifications

  • Know how to code in at least one programming language
  • Ability to develop websites using one front-end framework or content management system
  • Familiarity with HTML, XML, and CSS files
  • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of Drupal, Ruby, or JavaScript
  • Preference is also given to users who can navigate Linux servers
