JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TRIAL COURT STAFF ATTORNEY (Court Counsel’s Office)
(OPS-funded) PART-TIME (30 hours per week)
Description of Work:
This is professional and highly responsible work conducting legal research and writing. Assignments will be primarily Appeals and Criminal work, but may involve legal issues from any division of the Circuit and County Court and administrative issues from the Chief Judge. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Court Counsel and assignments are made by the Court Counsel or by the Supervising Senior Staff Attorney, either orally or in writing. Contacts are limited primarily to judges, staff attorneys, and other court personnel but may include other attorneys and litigants.
Please Note: This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to work part time. Because of ethical rules, the attorney in this position may not practice in the courts of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, and the practice of other law is limited.
Minimum Training and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited law school and membership in The Florida Bar. Three or more years’ experience practicing as an attorney is desired. Applicants must have excellent writing and analytical skills.
