Internship Expires September 12, 2022

Social Enrichment Center, located in Media, Delaware County, offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on clinical experience. Our internship program is designed for Psychology or related majors who are seeking a direct learning experience in a therapeutic setting. At SEC, we support clients ages 2-21+ with diagnoses including autism, ADHD, anxiety, developmental delays, and more. Our programming incorporates social skills, life skills, and individual and group counseling, as well as games and recreational activities. As an intern, you will become engaged in all aspects of our program. Multiple successful interns have gained full-time employment at SEC.

This is a multidisciplinary experience providing the ability to observe and assist in all areas of SEC.

Opportunities will include:

  • Assisting with planning and facilitating small group sessions
  • Learning objective clinical notetaking and progress monitoring skills
  • Gaining hands-on therapeutic experience with the support and feedback of staff
  • Participating in games and activities with clients

Undergraduate students seeking careers in any of the following fields will benefit from this experience:

  • Developmental or Clinical Psychology
  • Social Work
  • Counseling
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Recreational Therapy
  • Special Education

We ask for an 8-10 hour/week commitment to gain a true hands-on and meaningful experience. We have flexible scheduling available, and we can schedule around your current class schedule.

Spring, Fall, and Summer semester opportunities are also available.

Former intern testimonials:

“My experience as an intern at the SEC was incredible and unlike any I have had before. The position incorporated hands on experience with the children and feedback and training from the staff. I am thankful for the SEC as this internship has led me to solidify my choice to work with children and adolescents in the future.” – Julia S.

“I started working at SEC during the summer and I had no idea how much it would change me as a person. I’ve learned so much about helping other people and also ways to help myself. Being able to work closely with the children and see how much they can grow and improve is amazing. This experience has really opened up my mind and allowed me to think about other paths that I might want to go down in the future.” – Emma B.

Interested applicants: please apply through Handshake (preferable), or contact our intern supervisor Lila directly at lila@socialenrichmentcenter.com.
