Join Us as a Clinical Social Worker within our Clinical Services team!

The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking an experienced and mission-drive Clinical Social Worker (PCN 26543) to join and be a vital member our Clinical Services team in New Haven.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday – Friday
  • First shift, 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
  • Location: 34 Park Street, New Haven, CT

This position plays a key role in providing evidence‑based clinical care to a caseload of individuals living with serious mental illness, co‑occurring conditions, and other complex challenges. Responsibilities include completing a range of clinical assessments and delivering individual, family, and group interventions.

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve.

The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 50-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness and/or addiction. Founded in 1966, CMHC is a partnership between DHMAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry . Each year over 4,000 people receive a variety of recovery-oriented services at CMHC and its satellite clinics.

CMHC is nationally recognized for its scientific research into the causes and treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities include multiple research programs in a variety of areas. CMHC is also a major training site for individuals pursuing careers in mental health fields including psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and pastoral care.

Please note:

  • A comprehensive medical examination, including a drug screening, will be required of all applicants upon a conditional offer of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure as a clinical social worker in the State of Connecticut.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing clinical treatment to adults with chronic, serious mental health and co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience utilizing evidence-based practice techniques for treating mental health and co-occurring substance use disordered adult clients in individual and group treatment modalities.
  • Experience creating client centered treatment plans, documenting clinical sessions and meeting documentation deadlines and productivity standards.
  • Experience maintaining positive working relationships within a multidisciplinary team and outside providers.
  • Experience assessing and treating clients in crisis with suicidal ideation and complex trauma.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice clinical social work pursuant to Sec. 20-195 (m-z) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
  • Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f).
