24-40 hours a week, flexible schedule/some weekends
Location: King of Prussia, PA
Job Type: $15 per hour
The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) is seeking an enthusiastic individual who will represent the Valley Forge and Montgomery County area by promoting the area as a tourism destination.
Support our Executive Director of Events, Membership and Services by helping to manage events and services for Sales-Sports Client, Membership, and VFTCB Event Services. Assist with the coordination of traveling kiosk-mini cooper events such as in-market events, community festivals and main street programs; as well as our top signature events, such as Arts MONTCO Festivals, MONTCO Golf Classic & Tourism Travel Rally, Hotel/Sports/Meetings etc. Support membership activities & in-market client event services prior, during and after events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Event Management
- Assist with coordination and management of all events including VFTCB, Sales & Membership
- Assist with the management of Event Registration Platform, incl. RSVP List & On-Site Registration
- Support and participate in all VFTCB events, sports, and membership related events.
Trade Show Management & Services
- Assist with tradeshow coordination and sponsorship event management.
- Coordinate market specific welcome amenities/gift bags to streamline the process
- Provide Services Support to all sales market segments
Traveling Kiosk & Sponsorship Program
- Assist with Traveling Kiosk Program including on-site activity event
Membership Support
- Assist with membership support includes assisting members with on-boarding, updating their web listings and photos, event uploading, cancelled member outreach, contact details up to date, etc.
- Assist with promotional items such as gear, swag, brochures/publications; help to maintain orderly appearance of mail room & swag inventory
EDUCATION:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree seeking program such as Events Management, Tourism/Hospitality/Sports Management, having fifteen credits within their major.
- Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Some base knowledge of Montgomery County is preferred, appreciation of the area as attractive for its history, accommodations, dining, nightlife, recreation, cultural and shopping opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities and abilities to work in a collaborative environment.
- Creativity: Ability to market established entities in fresh and new ways
- Attention to detail & Comfortable with a fast-paced workplace.
- Excellent communication, management, and sales skills
- Able and willing to travel, and occasional evenings.
- Computer capability, experience with Microsoft Office Software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, industry and trade journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER CAPABILITY: Knowledge of database management, Microsoft Office Suite, mass mailing and e-mailing, mail merge of word processing and Internet research.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to meet the typical physical and emotional demands of a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and listen. This may include occasional lifting of boxes weighing up to 40 lb. The position does require some weekday and weekend travel; a valid driver’s license is required.
