Develop your skills and learn what it’s like to work in a community legal centre.
This program will give you an overview of the types of work that Marrickville Legal Centre does for its community. You will be introduced to vulnerable clients who have often experienced a crisis that leads them to seek the assistance of a community legal centre. You will be able to work through a matter step by step, alongside our solicitors, to help a client who may have been unfairly dismissed from their job.
The concepts that arise through the module are representative of the actual work we do for our clients and will give you first-hand experience in working with a solicitor in a community legal centre. You will first be introduced to employment law and the concept of unfair dismissal and the jurisdiction of the Fair Work Commission. In our Employment Law Service, we are often helping clients who have been fired from their job seek resolution through the Fair Work Commission.
This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete.
