Learn the power of building student agency. Every day, teachers are leading classes of young people to make real gains in their education and positive change in our community.

The main work of teachers is engaging students, conveying high expectations for them and sharing love of your subject. As a teacher, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to have fun, create interesting lessons, and spark passion in your students.

As a teacher, you’ll start your day preparing for and delivering lessons to students on a range of topics.

In this program, you’ll start doing the work of a teacher. First, you’ll watch an expert Teach for Australia teacher lead in their classroom and learn which skills they are using to communicate well. Second, you will learn about a ‘growth mindset’, which can contribute to student success, and you will plan and deliver a short activity for your students to complete.

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 1-2 hours to complete.

Skills Learned:

  • Learning from the experts – Observe a colleague
How can you engage students with your presentation skills? Your colleague, a Teach For Australia Associate, will show you how.
