The Biology Department faculty at Arcadia University teach a wide variety of courses in the biological sciences, most of which are associated with an accompanying laboratory course. The Biology Department regularly hires Teaching Laboratory Assistants to work closely with course instructors and/or laboratory coordinators, and in accordance with safety procedures, to ensure that all necessary equipment and reagents are set out in advance of a particular laboratory exercise and that laboratory equipment and facilities are clean and neat. Teaching Laboratory Assistants also return all reagents/chemicals and equipment to the appropriate storage areas after the laboratory exercise has been completed, and ensure that all reagents are disposed of according to safety guidelines. Teaching Laboratory Assistants may also be called upon to carry out other tasks related to the laboratory exercise, including testing reagents, maintaining stock inventories, copying/distributing handouts or other laboratory materials, as well as other tasks. Student Laboratory Assistants may work throughout the academic year and in the summer and are compensated at a rate of $11.00/hour for the 2023-2024 academic year. If you are interested in working as a Teaching Laboratory Assistant for Dr. Richard Kaplan please apply.
