Philadelphia.
Job Description:
We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Arcadia students to join our team at Stenton
Family Manor as Student Support Counselors. In this role, you will primarily assist in our
Homework Club, provide individual academic support, and lead weekly STEM projects for
children in grades K-5.
Monday – Friday, 4pm-6pm
January 1, 2024 – May 3rd, 2024
Responsibilities:
➢ Homework Club: Guide and support children in completing their homework assignments,
provide clarification, and reinforce learning concepts in a group setting.
➢ Individual Academic Support: Offer one-on-one assistance to children who need extra
help in specific subjects, tailor guidance to their individual learning needs and pace.
➢ Weekly STEM Projects: Plan, organize, and execute engaging STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) projects for children, fostering their curiosity
and interest in these fields!
➢ Mentoring and Support: Offer mentorship, encouragement, and emotional support to
children facing challenging circumstances, acting as a positive role model and source of
inspiration.
➢ Collaboration: Coordinate with manor staff and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and
comprehensive educational support system for the children.
Requirements:
➢ Demonstrated interest in education, mentoring, or child development.
➢ Proficiency in K-5 subjects and/or STEM fields.
➢ Ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds, showing sensitivity and
understanding.
➢ Reliability and Commitment: Punctuality, dedication, and a consistent commitment to the
organization and scheduled hours.
➢ Ability to develop innovative and engaging activities for children.
➢ (Preferred) Prior experience working with children, tutoring, or leading educational
programs.
