The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking reliable and enthusiastic Gymnastics Recreation Instructors for several temporary positions to coach and work with children of all ages and adults in our Gymnastics Program. The instructors will also provide support and direction to athletes and general input to help shape the recreational program and competitive teams.
Major Duties/Specific Tasks:
- Providing tailored Gymnastics instruction specific to each student’s needs while following the provided curriculum, and evaluating individual student performance;
- Preparing for class instruction, reviewing lesson plans, and curriculum;
- Setting up equipment prior to class and securing equipment after class to appropriate locations;
- Inspecting and reporting unsafe equipment to supervisor;
- Recommending purchase of supplies and equipment; and
- Completing required class/competitive team paperwork, such as: attendance reports, evaluations, parent communication, or other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Applications are being accepted for the following positions:
Gymnastics Instructor I: starts @ $20.60/hourly.
This position is assigned to preschool or beginner-level classes, or classes where less technical expertise is required to effectively instruct class participants.
Minimum Requirements: HS Diploma, plus 400 hours of technical Gymnastics experience.
Gymnastics Instructor II: starts @ $24.44/hourly.
This position is assigned to intermediate or single-level classes. Concepts taught throughout the course are moderately complex.
Minimum Requirements: HS Diploma, plus 800 hours of technical Gymnastics experience, and 50 hours e as an instructor.
Gymnastics Instructor III: starts @ $28.24/hourly.
This position is assigned to advance and lower-level classes and may teach therapeutic recreation courses or sections designed for participants with disabilities, including serve as a substitute gymnastics instructor for many other classes when required.
Minimum Requirements: HS Diploma, plus 1200 hours of technical Gymnastics experience, 800 hours of technical Gymnastics experience, and 50 hours as an instructor.
*Technical experience may come from a variety of sources, such as work experiences, volunteer experiences or formal athletic participation.
