The Chesterfield County Department of Mental Health Support Services is the single point of entry for public mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse services in Chesterfield County. The department is hiring part-time Residential Aides that will be committed to providing face-to-face support to adults with developmental disabilities in areas of activities of daily living, community integration and inclusion, socialization, interpersonal skills, positive behavior supports, general medical care, hygiene, and overnight monitoring in group home.
What You Do and How You Do It:
You will provide direct care to adults with developmental disabilities living with families or independently in the community. You will be responsible for supporting and training individuals with personal hygiene, community integration and inclusion, and activities of daily living. You will also provide general medical care to include administering medications, carrying out physician ordered treatments and first aid/CPR when the need arises. It will be your priority to ensure individuals in your care remain healthy and safe. To do so, you will work closely with your Senior Supervisor and Residential Counselors to stay updated on the needs and desires of the residents. You will also assist in general household cleaning and maintenance. You will complete documentation in individuals’ electronic health records as well as daily logs. Perform other work as required.
Here’s What You Need:
We require a high school diploma or GED; some college coursework or experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred; one year of experience in the Human Services field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Residential Aide positions work evenings and weekends.
