Job Summary
Under direction, is responsible for performing professional level work planning, developing and conducting training programs for skill and professional development for the adults with basic educational needs. Will work directly with the public. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. May exercise supervision over assigned staff.

Work Hours
Schedule varies and is determined based on departmental needs; weekend availability required.
Essential Job Functions
- Assesses individuals’ educational needs.
- Provides tutoring for adult basic education one on one.
- Develops and maintains training records.
- Develops educational and skill development training programs for adults.
- Conducts and coordinates training classes.
- Conducts research on various topics for future program development.
- Compiles reports and statistics.
- Develops and writes training manuals, handout materials, visual aides, and program outlines.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience as a teacher or training instructor.
- This position requires a valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License OR valid driver’s license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Use of your own personal vehicle may at time be required and proof of Liability Insurance will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English & Spanish.
- Knowledge of instructional and teaching methods, practices, and procedures for adults with basic educational needs.
- Knowledge of methods of community asset mapping or identification methods.
- Knowledge of training program assessment instruments.
- Ability to tailor training to individual strengths and development plans.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
