Supervisor of English Language Development
Position Description:
Working full time from a Commonwealth Charter Academy Family Service Center, the Supervisor of English Language Development supports the management and continued development of CCA’s academic program for English Learners (ELs). Working under the direction of the Assistant/Associate Director of English Language Development, the Supervisor of EL Development is responsible for working with the administrators, teachers, and other CCA staff to ensure that the quality of the online courses and instructional strategies are rigorous and appropriate for students who are learning English, regardless of their language of origin, and works with all stakeholders and departments to ensure that appropriate and accessible programming is maintained to fully engage ELs. The Supervisor of EL Development supervises and evaluates English Language Development teachers and staff, as assigned.
Responsibilities:

- Assist and support the Assistant/Associate Director with providing leadership, supervision and direction of EL staff.
- Coordinate and oversee scheduling of testing in accordance with federal, state, and CCA requirements and guidelines.
- Coordinate and oversee the identification of students through the Home Language Survey, maintain the EL department database and track systems and information.
- Oversee testing and placement of students in the EL program as well as monitor exit strategies and timelines.
- Refine and improve EL systems for identification, screening, and placement to ensure best practices.
- Assist the Assistant/Associate Director with new and updated compliance regulations and requirements.
- Supervise and coach EL instructional staff to ensure consistency and quality of EL instruction, services, EL literacy and other research-based practices.
- Facilitate parent/administrator meetings.
- Facilitate and support the ELD Team Collaboration.
- Supervision and evaluation of EL instructional staff, as assigned.
- Support in hiring of additional staff as needed.
- Develop and deliver Professional Development Serve as a source of knowledge about current language policy and be able to take full advantage of professional resources to support the instruction of ELs.
- Support and assist the Assistant/Associate Director for strategic planning, and improvement of the English Language Department at CCA.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend or stand as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
- Principal Certification or Supervisory Certification
- ESL Certification
- 3 years’ experience in instructional supervision or online instruction, or combination thereof
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in related field
- Curriculum and Instruction experience
