Description: Interns will be responsible for duties related to both the Subsidiary Rights (e.g., foreign, serial, large print, book club rights) and the Editorial departments. For Subsidiary Rights, tasks may include letter writing, compiling praise for rights mailings, updating our rights catalog, assisting with follow-up for digital meetings with foreign publishers, and light work with contracts and royalty statements, as well as data entry and other administrative work. For Editorial, interns will be responsible for reading and reporting on submitted manuscripts (generally literary fiction, non-fiction, or thrillers) and drafting correspondence with authors and literary agents. There may also be the opportunity to draft copy used for marketing and sales.
Length of Internship: May/June through August 2026; 20 hours per week
Requirements: Interns must have excellent written and oral communication skills and must be task-oriented with an ability to start and finish projects with a high level of personal organization. Interns should be self-starters, have an ability and willingness to tackle any task at hand, including some repetitive office tasks, and a strong interest in the publishing industry, and to the different departments that contribute to a publishing house. Interns must enjoy reading, particularly literary fiction, and feel capable of voicing their opinion of submitted manuscripts. Reading proficiency in a foreign language is helpful but not required.
